TPC’s 8th Annual Turkey Trot Receives National Coverage

The Phoenix Center’s annual Turkey Trot—an event that brings together students with autism and other intellectual disabilities for a day of fun, fitness, and community—has captured the attention of media outlets across the country, including a feature in USA Today!

This year’s Turkey Trot, held on November 27, 2024, was our 8th annual celebration and marked a significant milestone in raising awareness about the spirit of inclusion and support that defines TPC. The event not only showcased our students’ determination and growth but also highlighted the incredible collaboration with Washington Elementary School’s student ambassadors. Their cheers, guidance, and friendly encouragement helped create an environment of joy, achievement, and community connection.

From a broadcast on News 12 NJ to a spotlight in USA Today’s nationwide roundup of Turkey Trots, it’s clear that the story of our students’ resilience and the power of inclusion resonates far and wide.

“We are so proud that these images and moments were shared on a national platform,” said Executive Director Julie Mower. “It’s a testament to the love, dedication, and teamwork that make The Phoenix Center a place where students thrive and build confidence for life beyond the classroom.”
